Financial Report 2012-2013 (Book Sales)

Filed under: Books, finances — Jean @ 11:40 am

Friends of OpenDocument, Inc., the organisation that publishes printed copies of the LibreOffice user guides, has posted their financial report for the 2012-2013 year. This page provides figures on the sales of LibreOffice books. The expense figure for “Books (ISBN etc)” covers copies for legal deposit for copyright purposes.

Surplus funds from these book sales, and funds from the ODFAuthors account, are available for a variety of purposes, for example to sponsor marketing efforts, including travel and items for giveaway or display (for example, in booths at conferences), expenses for people speaking on LibreOffice (particularly LO documentation) at conferences, and any other relevant activities (especially those related to the production and distribution of documentation), in circumstances where The Document Foundation is unable to cover the cost.

LibreOffice Writer is free, easy to use, and has powerful page layout features suitable for producing books such as novels and short story or poetry collections. This book explains how to write, edit, and design a book; lay out the pages using styles and templates; build a table of contents and index; include pictures, graphics, and special effects; and create a PDF for submission to POD services.
